Discover History and Art at Local Museums

Museums aren’t just for the big city! Greenville is steeped in history, and it’s even the home of civil rights advocate and former presidential candidate Jesse Jackson. Greenville is home to two lovely museums. If you have some time in your itinerary try one (or both) of these stops:

  • Greenville County Museum of Art—This place houses several collections featuring all kinds of American art, including traditional portraits and contemporary pieces. The best part? Admission is free!
  • Upcountry History Museum—If you’re more of a history person, visit this museum. Exhibits over Native American history, the textile boom, and the region’s struggle to rebuild after the Civil War. There are always rotating special exhibitions, so expect to see something new every time you visit!
